Katherine T. “Kathy” Egland, I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude for the work of the Sierra Club and have a vested interest in seeing it maintain and expand its transformative advocacy. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and working with Chad Hanson for several years and have recently worked closely alongside Nancy Muse and Maya Khosla. I’m enthusiastically endorsing their candidacy for the Board of Directors of the Sierra Club because I feel they possess the principles, virtues, values, expertise and fortitude to return and keep the Sierra Club on a path to stability and prosperity, while building a diverse membership capacity. In such times as these, harmony, the stellar work and experienced guidance of the Sierra Club is needed now more than ever. This is the slate to answer that need.

They are not just advocates—they are dedicated professionals conducting vital on-the-ground research, gathering and analyzing data, and applying it to create holistic, nature-based solutions. Their deep expertise, unwavering commitment, and tireless efforts make them true defenders of the wild. As climate challenges intensify, their leadership is more crucial than ever. Intact forests and their ecosystems are essential for climate resilience,  and the future of our planet. We need their voices and leadership now more than ever.

Ali Sheehey, Kern-Kaweah Chapter

Magi Amma, Santa Cruz Group Ex Com

Ronald  Askeland , Conservation Chair and ExCom Vice Chair, San Diego Sierra Club. I joined the Sierra Club in 1983

Homer Tom, I am a member of Angeles Chapter and lead outings for the Wilderness Training Committee, Wilderness Adventures Section and Orange County Sierrans Section. I have been an instructor for the Wilderness Travel Course since 2009 and am currently the Chair for the San Gabriel Valley area. As a frequent leader of backcountry trips in the Sierra Nevada and 12-year volunteer at the Yosemite Conservation Heritage Center I have a deep love for the mountains and have seen a marked decline as the climate crisis deepens. I believe getting people outdoors is fundamental to explore, enjoy and protect our world. I support Chad, Maya and Nancy and their objectives. I joined the Sierra Club in 1998 and am now a life member.

Abby Cunningham, Sierra Club Member, 2016-Present

Decimating our last remaining wild places won’t solve the climate crisis - just the opposite. We need bold leadership now, with the scientific and operational chops to push back against entrenched special interests at the local, state and federal levels. These three environmental leaders fit that bill. I’ve had the good fortune to work alongside Maya Khosla on one of the club’s committees, and she is smart, kind, fearless and knows how to get things done. Dr. Hanson has taught me a great deal about some of the issues we face, and I’ve always admired his willingness to “show me the data” when asked. I enthusiastically support these three candidates for the National Board.

Delia  Malone, Colorado. Wildlife Chair of the Colorado Chapter, member of the Executive committee of the Roaring Fork Group and former Chair of the Colorado Chapter. I wholeheartedly support the candidacy for Sierra Club Board of Directors of Maya Khosla, Nancy Muse and Chad Hanson. As an ecologist who has worked for the past several decades for the Colorado Natural Heritage Program, I've witnessed the biodiversity crisis. Consequently, I support these candidates for Board Members who will stand for equity and justice for all life - wild and human - candidates who realize the interconnection of biodiversity and climate warming and will fight for protecting all the life of our planet. I joined the Sierra Club in 2012

John Emerick, Colorado/Member/Ecologist

Edie  Engstrom, Roaring Fork Chapter Sierra Club Secretary

Kate Hudson, Colorado, Sierra Club Roaring Fork Chapter Board Member, Environmental attorney and Climate and Energy advocacy coordinator for past 28 years (the first 20 based in NY, the last 8 based in Western Colorado). I was part of a coalition of environmental organizations that worked for a number of years to get hydrofracking banned in NY state in 2014.

Kent Abernethy, Colorado/Group Chair Headwaters/Former Chapter Chair/CCL and Wolf Natural Resources/Interpreter/ Naturalist. The majority of the National Board voted to suspended the Colorado Chapter. It was harmful to our volunteer base and engagement. The whole process was so deliberate and apparent to place one volunteer leader above everyone else. It has been a struggle to persevere and continue with important work and campaigns - Including the Wolf Campaign the most successful in the Chapter's history in terms of funds raised and membership engagement. The intersectionality between conservation and environmental justice with grassroots volunteer led support must be the the Sierra Club's emphasis and charge. I fully support the shared platform.

Sandra Kaptain,  Sierra Club VOF, Il ExCom, Chair EGG350.org, Member CCL. We need to preserve trees for Climate solutions.

Frank Lilly, M.S. Zoology, Colorado State University. Sierra Club member for 30 years. Treasurer and ExComm member, Headwaters Group, Colorado. We are one of the few, if not the only, national environmental organizations that is fueled by local organizations. I think it is crucial for the Sierra Club to return to and strengthen it's commitment to our grass roots heritage, as exemplified by the local Groups.
